Job Summary The Director for the Free-Standing Emergency Department reports directly to the Vice President of Emergency Services and provides leadership and management oversight for the Free-Standing Emergency Department. This role fosters positive relationships and engages professionally with patients, families, visitors, and team members to reinforce and advance the positive public perception of Grady Health System. The Director for the Free-Standing Emergency Department actively contributes to performance and quality improvement initiatives within assigned departments, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. They are responsible for developing comprehensive, realistic short- and long-term plans that integrate industry trends, financial considerations, and operational timelines, while coordinating planning efforts across service lines. Collaboration is central to this position, requiring close partnership with operational VPs, AVPs, Directors, team members, and both internal and external stakeholders across all locations. Through these partnerships, the Director of the Free-Standing Emergency Department supports Grady Health System's mission to enhance patient health and well-being. Strategic Leadership_20%
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the delivery of care and prevention services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, mission and vision.
- Provide visionary leadership to the Emergency Services Division by fostering a culture of high-reliability, safety, innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Supervise staff in the Free-Standing Emergency Department.
- Conduct staff evaluations and leads performance improvement initiatives to promote accountability, professional development, and operational excellence.
Program Development and Management_20%
- Develop comprehensive program plans that define scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation for the Free-Standing Emergency department incorporating industry best practices while being patient centered.
Ensure the Free-Standing Emergency Department operates in full compliance with all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, while proactively identifying and pursuing opportunities for enhanced program funding to support service expansion and long-term growth.
- Coordinate the development of clinical workflows, staffing models, technology integration, and patient safety protocols to ensure seamless operational readiness.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement_20%
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, community organizations, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Advocate under the direction of the Vice President Emergency Services, for the operational and patient care needs of the Free-Standing Emergency Department. Ensuring there is alignment within the Grady Health System Emergency Services Division.
- Develop plans to actively involve stakeholders in decision-making through transparent communication, active listening, and building trust.
Quality Improvement_20%
- Lead initiatives to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the quality of care and patient services within the Free-Standing Emergency Department, Urgent Care Center, and across Grady Health System
- Implement evidence-based practices and integrate industry trends to promote continuous improvement in patient care, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
- Ensure that all patient care metrics for the Emergency Department are actively monitored, analyzed, and achieved through the use of performance dashboards, quality benchmarks, and ongoing staff accountability measures.
Financial Management_20%
- Provide oversight and ensure the accurate and timely completion of payroll and purchasing functions for the Free-Standing Emergency Department.
- Oversee the budget for the Free-Standing Emergency Department ensuring efficient resource allocation, financial sustainability, and advancement of urgent care and emergency care services.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of site-specific budgets and performance standards, ensuring achievement of On-Target Performance Standards.
- Develop and implement initiatives to drive revenue growth through effective oversight and optimization while ensuring appropriate resource allocation.
- Monitor and manages supply usage for the Free-Standing Emergency Department, ensuring accurate allocation, cost efficiency, and availability of resources to support safe and effective patient care.
