Job Title: Orthopedic Technician

Location: Tampa, FL 33621

Duration: 3+ Month to long term

Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm- 7:00am - 4:pm

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians with patient care, including fitting and applying braces, crutches, and soft goods; preparing and assisting with casts and orthopedic appliances; changing dressings; and removing sutures, casts, and splints.
  • Assist with orthopedic procedures such as wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, and fracture reductions; educate patients on cast care, traction, and orthopedic device use.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked cast and soft goods room; order supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate clinic data collection and remain current on orthopedic practices, trends, and supplies.
  • Perform front desk and administrative duties as needed, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, scanning and faxing documents, maintaining electronic health records, processing DME referrals, adjusting provider schedules, and orienting new staff.
  • Assist with surgical scheduling as assigned, including preparing pre-operative packets, coordinating pre-op and imaging appointments, and completing cancellation documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent with additional training and one (1) year of related experience in an accredited hospital setting, demonstrating knowledge of orthopedic clinic routines and procedures, including trauma, pediatrics, hand, foot and ankle, sports medicine, and/or spine.
  • Certification: Current national certification through the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) or the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT) required.
  • Experience: At least one (1) year of orthopedic technician experience within the last two years in an accredited hospital clinical setting.
