These systems are integral to electric shovels and various mining equipment models utilized in our operations. Our ideal candidate exhibits a strong work ethic, a keen interest in developing technical skills, and the ability to thrive in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.

As part of the Parts and Service division of US Distribution under Joy Global Surface Mining, this position offers a foundation to grow within a company dedicated to safety, quality, and operational excellence. The role is integral in ensuring that equipment remains in optimal working condition, directly contributing to mining productivity and safety standards. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn through direct experience and who aspire to build a rewarding career in industrial maintenance and repair.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced welders and mechanics by preparing and fetching tools, materials, and specialized equipment efficiently, facilitating smooth workflow and minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate closely with higher-level tradespeople to interpret technical documents such as blueprints, wiring diagrams, and work scopes, developing a solid understanding of equipment systems and repair procedures.
  • Operate basic electrical and pneumatic power tools safely under supervision, gaining proficiency in maintenance techniques.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and painting of tools and equipment to maintain operational standards and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Actively uphold Komatsu's Safety First philosophy by strictly following all established Cardinal Rules, conducting Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), completing Near Miss Cards, and participating in Safety Observations to foster a culture of continuous safety improvement.
  • Demonstrate resilience and adaptability by meeting multiple deadlines under pressure, while maintaining effective communication and cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and lead personnel.
  • Attend training sessions and participate in skill development programs designed to enhance technical capabilities and safety awareness.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education Requirements: Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with familiarity in decimals and fractions as applied to measurements and calculations. Capability to read and understand simple technical documentation such as formulas, tables, charts, drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications is essential. Competency in using adjustable measuring instruments and verifying data through inspection of reports and forms is expected, with guidance provided during the learning process.

Experience Requirements: Candidates should have between three months to one year of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or general labor roles, preferably in industries related to mining or heavy manufacturing. Hands-on exposure to heavy machinery operations and maintenance is highly valued.

Additional Skills and Attributes:
