Position Overview

The Development Coordinator for Sponsorships & Strategic Initiatives provides essential frontline support to advance sponsorship fundraising for a university-wide signature speaker series and related strategic initiatives. This part-time role (up to 19 hours per week) is intentionally designed to build early momentum, generate sponsorship revenue, and establish a strong prospect pipeline in advance of the hiring of a Senior Director of Development for Strategic Initiatives & Sponsorships.

Reporting to AVP of Central Development, the Coordinator will focus on outbound phone outreach, sponsor prospecting, follow-up, and coordination, helping to secure introductory- and mid-level sponsorships while laying the groundwork for long-term sponsor relationships.

This role is ideal for a relationship-oriented professional who is comfortable making phone calls, representing the university, and advancing sponsorship conversations within a structured and supportive framework.

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* At least one year of experience in customer service, sales, fundraising, or a related field involving direct outreach and relationship-building.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively by phone and email in a professional setting.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and ability to learn donor management systems.

Job Duties



  • Sponsorship Outreach & Solicitation (40%) * Conduct outbound phone calls to corporate and community prospects to introduce the signature speaker series and related sponsorship opportunities. * Solicit entry-level and mid-level sponsorships using approved packages, talking points, and pricing. * Schedule follow-up conversations and facilitate hand-offs to advancement leadership as appropriate. * Represent the university professionally and enthusiastically in all sponsor communications.
  • Prospect Research & Pipeline Development (20%) * Identify, qualify, and prioritize prospective sponsors using existing lists, referrals, and basic research. * Assist in developing and maintaining a sponsorship prospect pipeline that will transition to the incoming Senior Director. * Track outreach efforts, responses, and next steps in the donor CRM system.
  • Proposal & Materials Support (20%) * Support preparation and customization of sponsorship proposals, call scripts, and follow-up materials. * Coordinate delivery of sponsorship information and confirmations once commitments are secured. * Assist with compiling sponsor summaries and outreach updates.
  • Data Management & Coordination (10%) * Enter and maintain accurate records of sponsor outreach, communications, and commitments in systems such as Raiser's Edge. * Assist with basic reporting, tracking sponsorship progress and revenue goals.
  • Transition & Institutional Support (10%) * Document sponsorship strategies, prospect activity, and active conversations to ensure continuity for the incoming Senior Director. * Coordinate as needed with advancement marketing, event teams, and campus partners.
