Staff Associate I will require regular interaction with a well-established member of Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. Both in vitro (based on 2D and 3D cell/organoid culture) and in vivo (mouse) work will be required. The individual will be engaged in functional studies to elucidate cellular pathways perturbed by genomic alterations and tumor microenvironment in cancer, metastasis and to identify avenues for therapeutic intervention. The major areas of emphasis are gastrointestinal and breast cancer.

Responsibilities:

Functional Knowledge



  • Knowledge of the research subject and scientific methods of analysis - 35%


Problem Solving



  • Utilizes analytical skills to solve moderately complex problems based on protocols and procedures - 10%


Decision Making/Autonomy



  • Works within guidelines to carry out assigned duties in the design of apparatus, adaptation of relevant technology to the needs of a prohect, the conduct of specific experiments and the analysis of data - 10%


Technical Expertise



  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment, computers, software programs and research tools in support of the project - 35%


Communication



  • Document routine and experimental protocols, using batch records or similar system. Share information and data with colleagues and supervisors. Strong organizational, good communication, interpersonal and training skills for interactins with lab personnel - 10%


  • Bachelor's degree in specific research field
