Job Overview

The Specialist, Lease Operations drives process improvements and leads teams to implement new lease business. This role identifies opportunities and guides both internal and external partners to integrate lease operations into existing and future Macy's processes and strategies. The Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for store operations and related issues, including staffing, asset protection, logistics, Human Resources, and other operational matters.

What You Will Do



  • Contribute to building a culture of innovation within the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to scope, plan, and implement new leased businesses. Collaborate with Merchants to understand key priorities for new partners, anticipate business needs, and develop and manage implementation plans to ensure deliverables are achieved on or ahead of schedule.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate leased businesses into existing or future Macy's strategies, including omni-channel capabilities, selling tools, operational and logistics enhancements, and related processes. Lead discovery discussions with leased business partners and Merchants, propose implementation plans considering needs and anticipated costs for both parties, and drive execution.
  • Lead functional tracks on all initiatives, coordinating internal and external stakeholders such as Merchants, Leased Business Partners, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, Accounting and Finance, Store Communications, Selling Services, MTech, Human Resources, Merchandising Operations, Asset Protection, Marketing, MCOM, and other relevant teams. Ensure stakeholder alignment and accountability for completing deliverables.
  • Own project communications with internal and external partners, including developing agendas, scheduling meetings, and publishing recaps with action items and owners.
  • Create and deliver executive-level presentations summarizing plans, progress, and outcomes.
  • Support the Director, Lease Operations in contract negotiations as needed, independently managing revisions and clarifications.
  • Understand the structure and terms of existing lease relationships and provide Merchants with insights and clarification on contractual responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the set-up of new leased vendors, communicating logistical and operational requirements clearly.
  • Serve as the first-level contact for store operations issues, including staffing, asset protection, logistics, and other operational matters, partnering with subject matter experts and business owners to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.



Skills You Will Need

Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and successful delivery of complex initiatives.

Project & Program Management: Skilled at scoping, planning, and implementing projects, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, and driving results with urgency.

Lease Operations Expertise: Understanding of lease structures, contractual terms, and operational requirements, with the ability to provide guidance to Merchants and partners.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, identify opportunities, and propose effective solutions.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to integrate leased businesses into existing and future Macy's strategies, including omni-channel capabilities, operational improvements, and logistical enhancements.

Communication & Presentation Skills: Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills; able to create and deliver executive-level presentations and communicate effectively with internal teams and senior management.

Stakeholder Management & Relationship Building: Experience developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Finance, HR, Accounting) and external lease partners, fostering collaboration and trust.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Results Orientation & Initiative: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with a strong sense of urgency to deliver on commitments.

Operational Acumen: Ability to serve as a primary point of contact for store operations issues, including staffing, asset protection, logistics, and other operational matters.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 3+ years of project management or other similar broad-based experience.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
