Here's what you'd do:
- The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and execution of planned maintenance (PMs) and corrective repairs for all equipment, structures, and the grounds at the client's domestic wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).
- It needs a high degree of technical competence in the maintenance and repair of complex equipment and processes, as well as significant managerial experience.
- The position leads a diverse team including plant mechanics and electricians, and ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant execution of maintenance activities.
- The Maintenance Foreman is part of the Operations Team and reports directly to the Plant Manager.
- Responsible for planning, prioritizing, and executing the day-to-day maintenance activities of the treatment plant and associated equipment to achieve the highest degree of treatment efficiency possible within the budgetary confines allocated.
- Supervision is mainly administrative, with a focus on hands-on training of subordinates.
- Plan and schedule preventative and corrective maintenance tasks using the client's CMMS software (InforEAM).
- The position will need to ensure that all maintenance-related work orders are properly created, assigned, tracked, and closed out within the CMMS promptly.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
- Where appropriate, troubleshooting shall include completion of a root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures or operational disruptions.
- Perform quality control checks on completed maintenance work to ensure appropriate operational and functional standards are met.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of process equipment, including pumps, valves, blowers, motors, HVAC systems, electrical panels, PLCs, SCADA-related components, and other WWTP infrastructure.
- Use Power BI and other electronic software and analytical tools to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance productivity, efficiency, and backlog reduction.
- Responsible for setting and maintaining inventory levels for critical spare parts, supplies, and equipment to ensure timely procurement to support operational readiness and efficient systems maintenance.
- Coordinate emergency maintenance work and participate in after-hours response as needed.
- Ensure compliance with client safety protocols, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Responsible for creating, reviewing, and updating standard operating procedures to document relevant responsibilities and work tasks of the Maintenance Team.
- Participate in the hiring, firing and promotion process for all subordinate staff.
- Manage team performance, including conducting semi-annual and annual performance evaluations.
- The evaluations will include providing subordinate staff with critical and constructive feedback, as well as setting appropriate goals and recommending pay rate increases to the Plant Manager.
- Responsible for establishing and coordinating on-the-job training and mentorship to junior staff.
- Collaborate with other client departments as required to provide project-specific support and services, when appropriate.
- Ensures the treatment facility and associated equipment operate within the parameters outlined in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's (FDEP) WWTP Operating Permit.
- Has considerable latitude for the use of independent judgment in the selection of work methods and procedures.
- Perform as an Essential staff member before, during and after a declared emergency.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent.
- Minimum 5-years of progressive management experience (utility maintenance preferred).
- Minimum 10-years of hands-on plant (utility preferred) maintenance experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude including familiarity with the operation and maintenance of the types of equipment and systems in use at WWTP sites (e.g. pumps, blowers, motors, valves, clarifiers, etc.).
- Strong electrical aptitude including familiarity working with 480-volt electrical distribution systems which include switchgear, MCC, automatic transfer switches and diesel driven emergency generator systems.
- Demonstratable experience with the execution of critical safety programs including, but not limited to, the preparation of job hazard analysis (JHA), lock-out/tag out (LO/TO) procedures as well as confined space and hot work permit processes.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Possess a valid and clear Florida Driver's License and acquire a valid Florida Class "B" CDL Driver's license within the first year of hire.
