Job Summary

As a Fuel Operations Auditor at Southwest Airlines, you'll play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of our fueling operations by conducting riskbased quality assurance audits of fueling vendors' processes, procedures, and capabilities. You'll help ensure the highest standards of safety, fuel quality, and regulatory compliance across our network, protecting our aircraft, our Customers, and our People. In this highly impactful role, your expertise will strengthen the performance and reliability of Southwest's fuel operations and support the safe, efficient, and ontime operation of our airline.

Responsibilities
  • Audit and evaluate potential new fuel supply/service vendor's facilities, equipment and staffing to determine their capability and acceptability to service Southwest Aircraft
  • Prepare and maintain detailed audit reports of compliance and/or noncompliance with Southwest Airlines Fuel Quality Program
  • Assist with revisions and updates to the Southwest Airlines Fueling and Fuel Quality Manual
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled quality assurance audits/inspections of Company vendors fuel handling processes, procedures, and capabilities
  • Assist in developing, implementing and managing the fuel quality programs and procedures for Southwest Airlines at all stations (domestic and international), including fuel vendors
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of fuel metering, pumping, filtering, storage, handling, quality and safety systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft refueling equipment, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Knowledge of FAA, A4A, IATA, NATA, NFPA, API, and EPA regulations and requirements as they apply to jet fuel handling and procedures
  • Knowledge of the auditing process including preparation, performance, reporting, and closure
  • Skilled in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
    • Aviation fuel operations, including, but not limited to: into-plane fueling services, fuel storage/terminal facilities, refined product pipelines and quality assurance
    • Performing program and system audits/evaluations
    • Technical writing, including, but not limited to: comprehensive audit/environmental/safety reports, operations and training manuals, memos, specifications and operational procedures

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively both internationally and domestic (80%).
  • In possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid U.S passport

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $85,300 per year to $94,800 per year*, depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
