What you'll do:

The Engineering Manager, TB (Truck Body) is a key
member of the engineering leadership team responsible for developing and leading the
execution of TB-related engineering workflow and owning its success cradle to
grave. You will be accountable for
guiding and directing a team of highly skilled engineers and associates, some
as direct reports and others indirectly in conjunction with their functional
managers, who are driven to deliver the most well-designed and reliable fleet
vehicles and upfit solutions in the industry. A significant portion of your role will involve defining TB product line
requirements, goals, scope, tasks, and timelines, and for creating design
solutions that utilize commonality to reduce proliferation and utilize Lean and
6 Sigma techniques and methodologies.

What You'll Be Doing

  1. Strategic Direction & Vision. Responsible for supporting and providing input into the company's strategic direction regarding the TB product line.
  2. Executing the Plan. Delivering engineering solutions and revisions to other teams within the organization via component drawings, assembly and installation drawings, and Engineering Change Notices. Develop and present a gap analysis demonstrating how we transform the TB from current state to a future state that delivers on needs identified by its product roadmap. Partnering with the leadership team to establish priorities, timelines, and measurable results.
  3. Leadership & Developing Capabilities. Responsible for providing inspirational leadership and change management regarding a more robust systems engineering roadmap within the department and across the organization. Organizes, directs, and assigns projects to engineers and designers. Responsible for providing structured training & development opportunities for the systems engineering team.
  4. Supports Profitable Growth. Responsible for leading the development of robust engineering design standards to improve competitive advantage in the marketplace via lower costs, simplify manufacturing processes, standardize parts inventories, and customer-focused product solutions. Driving departmental projects aimed at reducing product cost and complexity
  5. Communications & Collaboration. Provides with oversight for conducting design reviews and facilitating communications between departments. Provides technical support to colleagues in Customer Service, Warranty, and Quality. Represents Utilimaster Engineering during customer site visits and customer pilot reviews
  6. Framework for Success. Supports organizational alignment of the TB product line roadmap to drive design solutions that exceed customer expectations for quality, cost, performance, and timing.
  7. Culture. Establish & create a team mindset of exceptional responsiveness, quality, & service to the organization. Energizes a team mindset of "can do" & urgency for delivering engineering solutions.
  8. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and requirements, the Utilimaster lean checklist, and engineering documentation standards. Enforces legal, financial, & ethical standards.
  9. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's
    Degree in Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 7+ years of product design
    experience
  • 5+ years of engineering
    project management experience
  • Strong familiarity working
    within a design environment utilizing SOLIDWORKS
  • Knowledge of Root Cause and
    Corrective Action (RCCA), Failure Mode and Effective
    Analysis (FMEA), and Finite
    Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft
    Office Applications, particularly, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • 2+ years of experience
    managing or supervising an engineering staff of 4 or more people and/or track
    record of providing technical leadership of cross-functional project teams
    in a systems environment
