As a result, a full-time position is available for a Traffic Project Engineer near our Richmond, VA office.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Serves as program manager, project manager, or technical leader on large and/or complex projects
  • Serves as engineer in charge to review, approve, and apply professional engineering seals to final plans and specifications
  • Coordinates and approves pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed

projects

  • Supports Department Manager in development of forecast of workload for the department
  • Provides technical guidance to staff in area of expertise
  • Leads marketing pursuits and/or acts as client contact, and investigates and identifies marketing

opportunities to attract clients and obtain work for the company

  • Researches and recommends advances in technical software and other new technology in the

field to improve efficiency

  • Responsible to the project manager and/or project team for quality system tasks as defined in

the quality manual

  • Attends meetings and presents professional papers/gives speeches at multiple local, regional,

and national conferences in area of expertise. May serve on boards or committees of

professional organizations

  • Perform traffic analysis, signal timing optimization, field traffic studies
  • Support development of ITS documentation and design plans
  • Prepare technical reports and memos
  • May mentor/coach junior engineering staff on projects
  • Support the growth and development of Mead & Hunt's traffic engineering northeast opportunities

A valid driver's license and some travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have all the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 18+ years of related transportation/traffic engineering experience
  • PE license required

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

  • PTOE
  • Ability and desire to acquire RSP and/or IMSA certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Experience with signal timing and traffic operations
  • Synchro and/or VISSIM experience
  • Ability and desire to learn WaySync, Probe-Based SPMs, and High-Rez ATSPM signal timing
  • Ability and desire to learn Microstation and/or AutoCAD and perform traffic engineering design
  • Ability and desire to participate in business development activities including meetings and proposals
