The budgeted hourly rate for this position is $25, with placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.


Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Automotive Technology Superintendent, perform general lot attendant duties including but not limited to upkeep of the cleanliness of fleet yard lot, fleet parking garage, BruinCar/Motorpool stalls, inspecting, reporting vehicle condition, fleet and motorpool lot checks, retrieving, fueling and washing and vacuuming campus vehicles, serviced vehicles, and BruinCar/Motorpool as needed including key/keybox/key fob battery inspection and upkeep as needed. Assist campus customers with fueling services and other customer service needs including BruinCar/Motorpool keybox support, lost and found support, fueling support (fuel card dispatching and retrieval.). Responsible for checking all fluid levels on BruinCar/Motorpool and providing drop-off service for customers as needed. Complete BruinCar/Motorpool maintenance service request forms and document repairs on work orders. Assist with the coordination of off-site vehicle washing and the delivery and pick-up of vehicles for off-site repairs. Pick up of vehicle parts is occasionally required. This position is responsible for maintaining the clean and professional appearance of the fleet yard and vehicle storage area. The Automotive Attendant will be working in various weather conditions and work times.

Qualifications

  • 1. Ability to clean various types of vehicles and related equipment. (Required)
  • 2. Skill in understanding basic oral and written instructions in English, in order to carryout assignments. (Required)
  • 3. Ability to speak English on one-to- one basis using appropriate vocabulary to obtain information and explain procedures. (Required)
  • 4. Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with coworkers and the campus community. (Required)
  • 5. Ability to use safe approved methods in completing required tasks. (Required)
  • 6. Skill in checking vehicle fluid levels. (Preferred)
  • 7. Ability to complete forms and reports with accuracy and moderate speed. (Required)
  • 8. Skill in operating a filter crusher and oil dispensers. - Preferred (Preferred)
  • 9. Ability to fuel vehicles with varying types of fuel sources. (Preferred)
  • 10. Ability to lift objects weighing 50 - 75 pounds, stand, climb, stoop, push, pull, and crouch for extended periods of time and ability to move around a variety of vehicles of varying sizes and shapes within the confines of a heavily traveled area. (Required)
  • 11. Job requires individual to wear a provided uniform. (Required)
  • 12. Must have the ability to use work cell phone, responding to work related texts/phone calls/emails/chats at all time, during work hours. (Required)

  • Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  • Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
