POSITION TITLE: SENIOR TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Technician will organize, supervise and participate in the maintenance, repair and operation of complex underwater search and recovery systems and subsystems. This person is required to work in a team environment and to travel worldwide on an emergency call basis. This person will work in a team environment and handle assignments independently. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports to the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager as necessary.

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Organize and supervise the activities and schedules of all technicians in maintaining complex search (side scan sonar), recovery (remotely operated vehicle (ROV)) systems, and their launch and recovery systems (LARS) in the ready for issue (RFI) condition.
* Assist the Project or Assistant Project Manager as required.
* Participate in and supervise the mobilization and demobilization of the search and recovery systems from the facility to ship board and return to RFI status.
* Operate, troubleshoot and repair these search and recovery systems, subsystems, and ancillary equipment in the offshore environment.
* Maintain logs, records, and documentation updates.
* Assist in developing search and recovery plans.
* Operate and fly side scan sonar or other towed systems.
* Operate navigation computer.
* Pilot and copilot ROVs and operate ROV manipulators.
* Assemble recovery rigging.
* Effectively handle all watch standing requirements of search and ROV operations.
* Direct questions from sponsors, representatives, customers, visitors or ship's personnel to his Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.
* Undertake any opportunity for training or experiences that expand his/her skill set so they qualify for advancement to Assistant Project Manager.
* Comply with established Phoenix QMS processes and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Formal training or certification in operations, maintenance, calibration and repair of: acoustic navigation, underwater cameras and lighting, integrated navigation systems, and diesel generators. Specialized hydraulic/mechanical training applicable to ROV systems is also desired.
* Field experience, four years working with, troubleshooting, and modifying search and ROV systems i.e., sonar, multiplex, telemetry (optical and electrical), fiber optic, and high voltage power generation distribution and control systems.
* Field experience, four years operating, maintaining and repairing to component level, search or ROV systems that utilize subsystems such as sonar, XBT/SXV, optical fiber transmission, thruster motors, acoustic navigation and emergency beacons, computer, underwater video/still cameras, pan/tilt assemblies, lighting, satellite communications, manipulators, Ethernet, GPS and DGPS navigation, computer sonar enhancement, wave division multiplexing and fiber optic rotary joint systems.
* Comprehensive working knowledge of computers and microprocessor units including experience in configuring, operating and troubleshooting PCs, PC-104s and VME platforms.
* Team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of search and ROV operations personnel and must possess an extensive background as a team leader and project coordinator.
* Understanding of offshore rigging and safety practices.
* Experience with rigging for deployment and recovery of acoustic beacons, transponders and releases.
* Must work safely in the facility (8 hours) and on board ships at sea (12 hours) on a daily basis.
* Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
* Ability to travel worldwide on short notice, for indefinite periods of time.
* Ability to walk unassisted and carry 75 pounds.
* Ability to see and/or hear equipment readouts.
* Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check, as required.
