Position Title: Test Engineer, Associate

Clearance: Public Trust

Job Overview: LCG is seeking a Test Engineer, Associate will support Client's ITAC by executing comprehensive quality assurance activities across the full software development lifecycle for custom-developed, COTS, and modernized applications. This role is responsible for designing and executing manual and automated test cases, validating functional and non-functional requirements, supporting Section 508 accessibility compliance, and integrating automated testing into ITAC's CI/CD pipelines. The Test Engineer will work closely with developers, DevOps, UI/UX, security, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, secure, accessible, and production-ready releases in alignment with ITAC standards, federal compliance mandates, and Agile/SAFe delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning & Test Case Development



  • Develop, document, and maintain manual and automated test cases/scripts covering functional, regression, integration, smoke, and non-functional testing scenarios.
  • Create test cases aligned with user stories, acceptance criteria, and Definition of Done (DoD) documented in Jira.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects to support auditability and release readiness.


Test Execution & Validation



  • Execute functional, regression, and smoke testing across development, test, staging, and pre-production environments.
  • Validate bug fixes, enhancements, and modernization changes to ensure no regression to existing functionality.
  • Support load and performance testing activities as needed, coordinating with developers and database teams to identify bottlenecks and validate remediation.
  • Execute API testing using Postman and SoapUI Pro, validating request/response structures, data integrity, error handling, and performance.


Test Automation & CI/CD Integration



  • Design and implement automated test scripts using Subject7, Jest, and approved ITAC automation frameworks.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions), supporting continuous testing and faster feedback cycles.
  • Maintain automated test artifacts and ensure they are reusable, maintainable, and aligned with evolving application functionality.


Section 508 & Accessibility Testing



  • Support Section 508 accessibility testing, generating required testing evidence and artifacts for compliance reporting.
  • Execute automated and manual accessibility checks using ITAC-approved tools and techniques, collaborating with UI/UX and 508 SMEs.
  • Assist in producing test evidence to support VPATs, annual 508 reports, and release-specific compliance deliverables.


Defect Management & Test Artifacts



  • Log, track, and manage defects in Jira, ensuring clear reproduction steps, severity classification, and traceability to requirements.
  • Maintain test artifacts, test data, and test results in ITAC-approved repositories (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring defects and contribute to continuous improvement of test processes.


Agile & SDLC Participation



  • Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and assist business users with test execution and validation.
  • Contribute to Test Plans, Test Data, and Test Results deliverables required per Program Increment and release.


Requirements

NIH Experience preferred.

Technical Skills (Required)



  • Test Management & Automation: Subject7
  • Defect & Backlog Tracking: Jira
  • API Testing: Postman, SoapUI Pro
  • Test Automation Frameworks: Jest
  • CI/CD Integration: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and related pipeline tools
  • SDLC Artifacts: Test plans, test cases, test scripts, test results documentation


Experience



  • 4-7 years of professional experience in software quality assurance within enterprise environments.
  • 3+ years experience executing manual and automated testing across web and API-based applications.
  • 2+ years experience with API testing and automation frameworks.
  • 2+ years experience supporting Agile or SAFe delivery teams.
  • Prior experience in a federal or regulated environment supporting compliance testing (508, security, audit) is strongly preferred.


Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

Certification:



  • Automation testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Test Automation Engineer)
  • Section 508 or accessibility testing certifications (nice to have)


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $85,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
