Ciena is on the lookout for an enthusiastic JIRA Automation Intern with a keen interest in AI/GAI processes to join our innovative team. This role is designed for individuals who, though may not have extensive experience in system administration, possess a foundational understanding of JIRA and its automation capabilities, coupled with an interest in AI/GAI. The selected candidate will support our projects by leveraging JIRA automation to streamline operations and by contributing insights on AI/GAI processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • * Assist in the utilization of JIRA's automation features to enhance project workflows and efficiency. Support the team in managing JIRA configurations, focusing on automation rules without administering the system directly.
  • * Collaborate with team members to gather requirements for automating repetitive tasks within JIRA.
  • * Participate in the exploration and application of AI/GAI concepts to support project objectives.
  • * Help in documenting JIRA processes and automation workflows for internal use.
  • * Engage with internal teams to gather feedback on the JIRA automation features and suggest improvements.
  • * Assist in training initiatives by preparing materials that highlight the use of JIRA automation tools.
  • * Stay informed about the latest trends in JIRA automation and AI/GAI technologies to contribute to team discussions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • * Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a Bachelor's program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a keen interest in JIRA and AI/GAI.
  • * Basic understanding of JIRA, particularly its automation features.
  • * A strong desire to learn about AI/GAI processes and their application in a business context.
  • * Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
  • * Effective communication skills, capable of conveying ideas to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • * Proactive in reaching out to colleagues and customers to gather information or provide assistance.
  • * An organized approach to tasks and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • * A team player mindset with the ability to also work independently when required.
  • * Understanding of scripting (Bash, etc..) , APIs (JIRA)
  • * Demonstrated coding skills in different languages (Python, Javascript, etc...)

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
