Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Estimating is responsible for overseeing estimating operations by ensuring accurate capacity planning, workflow optimization, and continuous skill development. This role involves coordinating across regional and national teams to balance workloads, identify training needs, and leverage data analytics for strategic decision-making.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Capacity & Workflow Management
    • Coordinate with regional teams to assess estimating needs and available capacity.
    • Direct workflow across regions to balance workloads and meet project deadlines.
  • Training & Development
    • Identify skill gaps and training needs within regional/national estimating teams.
    • Develop and recommend continuing education programs to enhance estimator knowledge and proficiency.
  • Data Review & Resource Allocation
    • Review and analyze data in Power BI to ensure equitable distribution of work and identify needs.
    • Provide insight to leadership for resource optimization and capacity planning.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Serve as a liaison between regional teams and leadership to ensure alignment of goals and priorities.
    • Communicate updates, best practices, and performance metrics effectively across regions.
Nature and Scope
  • Central point of coordination for regional estimating teams ensuring consistency across all regions.
  • Influences strategic decisions related to resource allocation, capacity planning, and process improvement.

Collaboration with senior leadership and regional teams to align estimating practices with organizational goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating and projecting for budgeting.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of highly technical waterworks projects.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
  • Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field.

Environmental Job Requirements

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
