Position Summary

As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Thermal Analysis section of the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and two (2) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**


Duties And Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity thermal models using tools such as Thermal Desktop and SINDA/FLUINT.
  • Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses for spacecraft components and integrated systems.
  • Evaluate thermal performance under various mission phases, including launch, transit, lunar orbit, and quiescent modes.
  • Support thermal verification activities, including test planning, data analysis, and model correlation.
  • Collaborate with design teams to optimize thermal control strategies (e.g., pumps and valves, coolant loops, cold plates, heat exchangers, sublimators, and radiators) and provide guidance on thermal considerations.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and anomaly investigations.
  • Document analysis results and present findings to internal stakeholders and NASA customers.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED :

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Experience in the design, analysis, testing, certification, and operation of space ATCS systems and components, which may include but not be limited to pumps and valves, coolant loops, cold plates, heat exchangers, sublimators, radiators, and heat exchangers during pre-launch, flight, and post-landing phases.
  • Proven experience in thermal analysis and design for aerospace systems. Experience with Thermal Desktop or similar thermal analysis tools is highly desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.

PREFERRED :

  • Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • The ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
