CIVIL SERVICE TITLE: CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to the Supervisor of the Flags Unit, candidate will create and route repair requests in SMS. Check on the status of the repair request and closed completed repairs as per NYS DOT Bridge Inspection Manual guidelines and the NYSDOT OSS Inventory and Inspection manual. Contact the unit/units working on the repair requests for various flag conditions for repair updates. Compose formal correspondence on behalf of MIO-Bridges. May be required to work evening, nights, and weekends. Development of drawings, composition of specifications and preparation of estimates of quantities; review of shop drawings. The undertaking of independent or group field visits in a city vehicle to NYSDOT and NYCDOT owned bridges, sign structures, elevated structures and over water. Performance of other related duties.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Candidate must have strong background in AutoCAD, Acrobat and MS office suite.

CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN - 20202

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.

Candidate must have strong background in AutoCAD, Acrobat and MS office suite.
