Job Summary

This position is within the IT Facilities/IT Implementations department and will work on IT Facilities and Technology projects associated to UCDH construction (new build, remodels, network upgrades) in association with Facilities Planning & Design (FP&D).

The incumbent is a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field of project management and is a recognized expert in IT, healthcare and construction; May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes and resources; and functions with a high degree of autonomy.

This position applies advanced technical project manage-ment concepts with a full understanding of project management practices, as well as IT policies and procedures to manage complex projects, providing analysis for highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation.

This position will act as a project manager for multiple project streams and new strategic initiatives, having overall project management responsibility for the IT Facilities group related to IT healthcare construction projects.

The position will lead the initiation, design and implementation of multiple complex IT construction projects working with diverse departmental or cross functional teams and subject matter experts throughout the project delivery process, having overall project management responsibility.

May lead a team of technical project management professionals. Assembles and directs large project teams. Develops detailed project plans and schedules, and monitors budgets and resources. Directs project activities with the goal of completing the project on schedule and within budget.

Manages projects of broad and diverse scope, size, impact, budget and/or project team size, with considerable impact to the organization related to IT/healthcare construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience and/or training (related to construction management, project management, Healthcare, and/or IT Technology).
  • At least five years of experience managing construction projects in a healthcare environment.
  • At least five years of experience managing IT Technology projects in a clinical setting.
  • At least five years of experience managing technical projects in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in conducting technical assessments, preparing reports, and recommend results and solutions, concisely and clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, with varying workloads, simultaneously in a dynamic team environment while prioritizing and allocating resources in a matrixed environment to complete projects on schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and feedback, and follow proper project documentation procedures during the project life cycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and explain technical problems in non-technical terms Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy appropriate for interfacing with wide range of administrators, faculty, staff, along with external vendors and other university campuses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across lines of authority and lines of functional responsibilities collaboratively while maintaining professional relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to handle and work effectively in a complex environment involving rapidly changing and competing priorities, heavy workloads, constant disruption, and highly fluid authority.
  • Proven project documentation skills (written) including but not limited to meeting-minutes, assessments, charters, plans, metrics, resource logs, issue logs, status updates and project closing documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or education equivalent to PMP certification.
  • Other professional Project Management Certification (with comparable project management coursework).
  • Equivalent certifications and/or experience related job field.
  • At least five+ years of experience managing IT healthcare construction projects using sound project management methodologies, principles, theories, techniques and concepts.
  • Proven experience working with IT infrastructure and equipment, including but not limited to desktop equipment, clinical equipment, infrastructure, low voltage systems, etc.
  • Proven experience with sound and independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build professional, cohesive, and collaborative relationships with team members, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of the impact to the organization of such initiatives.
  • Proven leadership ability with effective problem-solving skills .
  • Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments.
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills to assess, analyze, organize, and monitor project progress and risks.
  • Ability to handle customers with diplomacy and effectiveness. Translate problems into effective solutions and ability to communicate in a non-defensive and an empathetic manner.
