Overview
USU Extension in Emery County is seeking a creative and positive person to work as a staff assistant to Extension faculty. Hours will be Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm in the USU Extension office in Emery County. This is a full-time, benefited position. Applicants should be able to work well independently and in a team. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary. This position is administratively responsible to the Emery County Extension Director.

Responsibilities
  • Performs office duties, including answering phones, directing calls to appropriate parties, data entry, filing, appointment scheduling, and other general duties as assigned.
  • Provides administrative support, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings/conferences, and maintaining/ordering office supplies.
  • Greets and directs visitors.
  • Sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Composes and word-processes various standard documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • May update website content.
  • May provide non-business-related support for departmental programs and projects.
  • Conducts research, compiles data, and prepares papers for consideration and presentation by executives, committees, and directors.
  • Arranges maintenance of office equipment.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualificaitons
  • For Staff Assistant I - High school diploma/GED or aptitude is required.
  • For Staff Assistant II - Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Skilled with computers and related software.
  • Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills.
