CNC Machinist Qualifications: Step Up to the Machine

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Programmer in a manufacturing setting
• Proficiency in G-code and CAD/CAM software
• Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling, materials, and GD&T
• Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC machines
• Excellent attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Associate's degree or trade certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices is a plus

• Program, modify, and optimize CNC machines (mills, lathes, and multi-axis) using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM)
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering models to determine tooling, setups, and machining operations
• Set up and troubleshoot machines during program rollout and initial runs
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for optimal performance and finish
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and quality teams to refine processes and ensure high-precision production
• Conduct first article inspections and make necessary adjustments
• Maintain organized program libraries and documentation for repeatability
• Drive continuous improvement efforts and implement process enhancements
