Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Hardware Installation/Test Engineer for the FAA - PSS Contract, supporting the Civilian Division.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting hardware installation, system integration, testing, or field deployment activities for technical or operational systems.
  • Experience working in operational environments where work must be performed during off-hours, low-activity periods, or facility shutdowns.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including sponsors, facilities teams, and technical support personnel, to execute site-based installation activities.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical briefings or status updates to project teams, management, or government stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly report installation progress, issues, and risks.
  • Familiarity with applying safety standards and procedures while working with electronic or automation systems.
  • Ability to travel extensively in support of site implementation schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for automation system installations from initial deployment through Operational Readiness Decision (ORD).

  • Work with FAA sponsors to gather STARS equipment requirements and coordinate with support team members responsible for facilities and systems to ensure all planning, delivery, installation, checkout, and acceptance testing activities are completed at designated sites.

  • Perform automation system installation and test activities during third shift hours (10:00 PM - 5:00 AM), low air traffic operations, and scheduled facility shutdown periods.

    Support all aspects of site implementation, including preparation, on-site execution, testing, and closeout activities.

  • Develop and deliver site briefings to sponsors, technical teams, and stakeholders.

  • Communicate with the FAA sponsor on the progress of all site installation activities.

  • Provide briefings and status updates during coordination meetings, program reviews, and status meetings with FAA management and other stakeholders.

  • Update Knowledge Sharing Network (KSN) site information as required to reflect current installation status and activities.

  • Travel up to two to three weeks per month over an eighteen-month period in support of site installation and testing schedules.

  • Apply established safety standards and practices while working around and/or on sensitive electronic equipment.

  • Perform physical tasks associated with installation activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
