Summary

Responsible for providing assistance to the Transfer Station Supervisor and direction for the daily operation of a solid waste processing facility in a Transfer Station setting. Also, responsible for ensuring all guidelines set by the Site's Operating Plan are followed and met daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support Transfer Station Supervisor and crews by providing equipment and resources as needed.

  • Assist Transfer Station Supervisor meet TCEQ requirements for Transfer Stations

  • Drive equipment as a back-up driver to cover down routes.

  • Assist Transfer Station Supervisor with work schedules, training, and other administrative duties as needed.

  • Ensure all team members are adequately trained to operate assigned equipment and perform job duties.

  • Provide customer service as required.

  • Complete daily reports and ensure accuracy and thoroughness of submitted documentation.

  • Provide supervision of Transfer Station on a daily basis and the Transfer Station crews when Field Supervisor is absent or otherwise unavailable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • 4 years related experience with a variety of solid waste and/or heavy equipment operating skills experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • 4-6 years' experience as equipment operator in waste disposal/delivery

  • Up to 1 year of experience in a leadership role preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of safety standard practices governing the operation of vehicles

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, operation and servicing of heavy equipment

  • Skill to operate controls for required equipment

  • Ability to properly use, operate and care for tools, equipment and materials

  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment

  • Ability to read and understand operator's manual

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Class A Texas Commercial driver's license

  • Class B TCEQ Municipal Solid Waste license or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works in an outdoor environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.
