Responsibilities

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required.

Overview of Position - Step Down Navigator

The Step-Down Navigator is responsible for meeting with all eligible patients to discuss the benefits of stepdown services as part of their continuum of care treatment. The Step-Down Navigator will be responsible for communicating eligibility to key members of senior leadership & associated departments and will be responsible for routinely collecting and entering data, specific to eligibility, into Midas for trending report purposes. The navigator will have a thorough understanding of the step-down process and will coordinate between departments. A thorough understanding of the Inpatient workflow process, as it pertains to case management and discharge planning, is preferred.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • The Step-Down Navigator will routinely collect data-points specific to the step-down process, including: Eligibility, Referrals, Refusals, Reason for Refusal and Attended. This data will be routinely entered into Midas (preferably daily) with prior month's data.
  • It is the responsibility of the Step-Down Navigator to review reports run out of Midas in an effort to identify trends from the data collected. These trends will be used to identify opportunities to increase step-down referrals and should be reported on weekly.
  • In addition, the Step-Down Navigator will work closely with those departments that participate in the eligibility verification process (Clinical Services, Business Office, Utilization Review and Outpatient Departments) to confirm the patient's ability to transition to other levels of care after their initial program discharge

Qualifications

Education: Required: High School Diploma. Bachelor's degree preferred in social services or patient care related fields.

Experience: Minimum two (2) years' clinical experience in an inpatient psychiatric/mental health setting.

Licensure: Licensure and Certification: Current CPR, Physical and Verbal Crisis Intervention Certification. Training may be obtained during new hire orientation.
