We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiber Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team of 10-15 engineers based in Eden Prairie. The successful candidate will oversee the design and deployment of advanced fiber-based solutions tailored to meet the demanding requirements of large hyperscalers. This is a critical leadership role that combines technical expertise with team management to deliver innovative fiber infrastructure solutions.

**We are in the process of acquiring office space in Eden Prarie, MN and this position will be based there.**

What You Will Do

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10-15 fiber engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the end-to-end design and development of fiber optic solutions targeted at large hyperscale data center customers.
  • Drive technical innovation and ensure alignment with company objectives and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, operations, and external partners to define engineering roadmaps and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and internal quality processes.
  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Monitor performance metrics of the fiber engineering team and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in solving complex fiber optic network challenges.
  • Support recruitment, training, and professional development of engineering staff.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in fiber optics, hyperscaler infrastructure, and telecom industries.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in fiber optic engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying fiber optic solutions for large-scale data centers or hyperscalers.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fiber optics, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers, DWDM, fiber splicing, and network architecture.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing cross-disciplinary engineering teams and projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering design tools and software related to fiber optics.
  • Ability to work effectively with remote and on-site teams.
  • Ability to travel 30-50% both domestically and internationally

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering or business discipline.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale data center infrastructure and cloud service provider requirements.
  • Experience with automation and testing frameworks for fiber network design.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards relevant to fiber optic networks.

For this role, we anticipate paying $170,000 - $200,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
