Job Summary:

As a Traffic Coordinator, you will verify and keep records on outgoing shipments as well as compare identifying information and counts, weights, of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, orders, or other records. You are also responsible for determining method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.



Essential Functions:



  • Communicate with freight vendors as needed.
  • Carry out detailed instructions as assigned by leadership.
  • Enter data on computer and keep detailed records of shipments.
  • Understand and carry out all written directives in the shipping requirements ticket.
  • Ensure the quality and compliance of product entering and leaving the shipping department.
  • Must be able to create and understand a Bill of Lading.
  • Communicate with all other departments and Customer Service to answer specific questions or concerns and coordinate time sensitive shipping activities.
  • Back up for Shipping Receiving Clerk
  • Receives incoming UPS and FedEx shipments and distributes them to appropriate departments or individuals
  • Wrap skids, boxes, weighs, and labels UPS and FedEx, carrier services, and USPS packages in preparation for shipping
  • Drive company box truck if needed
  • Assist with inventory

  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows based databases preferred or willing to learn.
  • Ability to be certified to drive forklift.
  • Preferred warehouse knowledge



Minimum Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in shipping preferred
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing five to 50 pounds
  • Occasional repetitive upper extremity work tasks averaging about 50% of an 8-hour day


Physical Demands/Work Environment

Occasionally 0-2.5 hours, Frequently 2.5-5 hours, Constantly over 5 hours
