Built in the 1920s, the neo-Gothic landmark building at 1530 Main Street was originally the Dallas National Bank. It dominated the downtown skyline during a thriving era of Dallas banking and West Texas oil booms. Downtown Dallas flourished through the '80s, but as the 20th century drew to a close, it was a shadow of its former glory. A decade of development deals and massive renovations transformed the then-vacant bank building into a Forbes four-star boutique hotel. Aptly named after the international unit of energy, The Joule brought a charge to downtown Dallas when it opened in 2008. Through a series of further renovations and expansions as adjacent properties became available, The Joule has become a cultural, shopping, and dining destination-a forerunner in the renaissance of downtown Dallas.



Overview

The Bartender is responsible for crafting exceptional beverage experiences through expert mixology, refined service, and polished hospitality. This role requires mastery of classic and contemporary cocktail techniques, deep product knowledge, and the ability to create personalized guest experiences in a luxury service environment. The Bartender ensures the bar is impeccably organized, efficiently operated, and consistently aligned with the hotel's elevated standards of excellence.



Responsibilities

    Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages following luxury standards and precise recipes.
  • Provide warm, engaging, and anticipatory hospitality to all guests at the bar and in dining areas.
  • Execute proper mise-en-place: restock spirits, wines, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and bar tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, ensuring compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
  • Engage with guests to recommend cocktails, spirits, and food pairings based on preferences.
  • Ensure cash handling, POS entries, and beverage charging are accurate and compliant with hotel policies.
  • Collaborate with the barback and server team to ensure efficient operations and timely service.
  • Prepare syrups, infusions, fresh juices, garnishes, and house-made components to program standards.
  • Handle guest concerns or requests promptly, professionally, and with discretion.
  • Support service staff during high-volume periods to maintain seamless guest experiences.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.
  • Previous bartending experience.
  • Previous experience supervising others preferred.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
