Adjunct Instructor

The Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking an adjunct instructor for the following online course taught in the Spring semester of 2026:

EDTL:4900 Foundations of Special Education

• This is a core course for all students in the Teacher Education Program. The course is designed to provide foundational knowledge in supporting learners with disabilities and students who are at-risk for academic and or behavioral difficulties.

Job Functions

Instruction and student support for the 3-semester hour course will include the following responsibilities:

• Implementation of an existing course syllabus and course program
• Building and leading online instruction for the course
• Conducting and responding to online dialogue and discussions around course topics within ICON
• Providing prompt daily feedback to students on progress and assignments
• Managing the online course system (ICON) for the course

Education Requirement

Master's degree in an education-related field.

Qualifications

Adjunct Instructor must have completed an accredited Teacher Education Program in the United States and held a teaching license in the United States.

Required Experience

Adjunct Instructor must have successfully completed a minimum of two years of teaching at the Elementary, Middle School, Junior High or High School level in the United States.
