Live Collective Aviation Engineer

Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:



  • The Live Collective Aviation Engineer provides engineering, integration, and technical support for live and collective aviation training environments, ensuring aviation training systems enable realistic, safe, and effective collective training across individual, crew, and unit levels. The individual supports the design, integration, testing, sustainment, and continuous improvement of live aviation training capabilities, including aircraft-integrated training systems, range instrumentation, and collective training enablers.
  • Responsibilities include supporting engineering analysis and integration of live collective aviation training systems and Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS); assisting with development and review of technical requirements, interface specifications, and system architectures; and supporting test planning, execution, and validation activities. The Live Collective Aviation Engineer supports interoperability between aircraft, instrumentation, networks, and training systems to enable collective and joint training events.
  • Additional duties include supporting installation, configuration, and sustainment of live aviation training systems; participating in training exercises, demonstrations, and evaluations; supporting Government Acceptance Testing (GAT) and on-site testing; collecting and analyzing performance and training effectiveness data; and providing technical recommendations to improve system reliability, realism, and training outcomes.
  • The role collaborates closely with aviation program managers, trainers, operators, network engineers, range personnel, and logistics teams to ensure live collective aviation training systems align with Army aviation doctrine, safety requirements, and readiness objectives.



Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):



  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting aviation training systems, live collective training environments, or military aviation engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Aviation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Live or collective aviation training systems
    • Integration of aviation TADSS and training enablers
    • System testing, validation, and sustainment
    • Aviation system interfaces and interoperability
    • Support to training exercises or live flight events


  • Active Secret security clearance (required)



Nice to Have (skills that are not required, but nice to have):



  • Experience supporting Army aviation collective training, CTC rotations, or aviation ranges
  • Familiarity with:

    • Aviation range instrumentation and live training enablers
    • Collective training architectures (live, virtual, constructive integration)
    • Army aviation training doctrine and safety requirements
    • Prior operational aviation or aviation training background
    • Certifications or training in systems engineering or test & evaluation
