About the Team

Lakewood Health System is seeking a part-time Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care (UC) team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to practice high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative rural healthcare setting. Lakewood Health System is proud to be a designated Level III Trauma Center, providing essential emergency services to our community with a focus on teamwork, excellence, and compassionate care.

Mission for Position

The PA/NP functions as an independent provider, working collaboratively with ED physicians and an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive care across the lifespan, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education.

Key Duties & Responsibilities



  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and medical decision-making
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe pharmacologic therapies and provide patient education
  • Perform procedures such as:

    • Laceration repair
    • Incision and drainage (I&D)


  • Other system-specific examinations and procedures
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals


Position Type

Emergency Department (Level III Trauma Center):



  • Every 6th weekend (Saturday and Sunday), 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM


Urgent Care:



  • Every other Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Qualifications

Qualifications



  • Nurse Practitioner (NP):

    • Current Minnesota APRN licensure required
    • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification required


  • Physician Assistant (PA):

    • Current NCCPA certification required


  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, ATLS certifications required


Ideal Candidate



  • Emergency Medicine experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
