A Brief Overview Under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist, with support as needed, provides evaluation and treatment of speech, language, oral motor function and dysphagia to an assigned group of patients. Provides consultation to medical, allied health, and education personnel. Provides education and instruction to patients, families/significant caregivers, health care professionals, students, and the community. Completes all requirements for the ASHA Clinical Fellowship and for the LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) program. Additional Info Qualified candidates will be considered for placement in one of three clinical focus areas based on organizational needs, clinical interests, and experience:
1) Autism Integrated Care - Provide speech and language services to a varied population of children with developmental, neurological, and medically based communication disorders, including specific time dedicated totheAutism Integrated Care Program.
2) Outpatient Services - Provide speech and language services to a varied population of children with developmental, neurological, and medically based communicationand swallowingdisorders, including specific time dedicated tooutpatient dysphagia services.
3) Inpatient Rehabilitation - Provide speech and language services to a varied population of children with developmental, neurological, and medically based communicationand swallowingdisorders,including specific time dedicated to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program.
What you will do
- Evaluates patients with known or suspected communication disorders (including speech, language, oral motor dysfunction and dysphagia) using both non-standardized and standardized evaluation tools. Records evaluation findings according to Departmental and Hospital procedures. Refers patients to medical and educational services, when appropriate.
- Develops an individual therapy plan for each assigned patient which includes goals of treatment. Updates goals and records patient progress according to Departmental and Hospital procedures.
- Presents and defends evaluation findings, progress and recommendations to patients, families/significant caregivers, and health care professionals. Instructs family members and caregivers in home therapy programs. Consults with health care and educational staff to promote the patients' communication skills.
- Participates in Departmental or program-based functions (i.e., staff meetings, Departmental continuing education activities, work group meetings/committees, and equipment/supplies maintenance and ordering).
- Completes all requirements for American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Clinical Fellowship and Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND program.
Education Qualifications
- Master's Degree Speech-Language Pathology Required
Experience Qualifications
- Experience in pediatric medical-based clinical affiliation Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Speech & Language Pathology License (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required or
- Speech & Language Pathology License (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required or
- Speech & Language Pathology Provisional License (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required or
- Speech & Language Pathology Provisional License (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required
Skills and Abilities
- High level of analytical skill in order to work independently to identify and plan for the resolution of problems encountered in clinical and research duties. (Required proficiency)
- High level of skill in various assessment procedures pertaining to speech, language and swallowing skills in the pediatric population. (Required proficiency)
- Fundamental research knowledge including a general understanding of research methodology, design, and statistics. (Required proficiency)

$20,800.00 - $110,400.00 Annually
