Overview D460 Construction Support Engineering is seeking a highly motivated engineer to work hands on solving deck plate issues which have a direct impact on submarine fabrication, assembly, and test. D460 engineers provide front line engineering support for VIRGINIA Class construction efforts in the Groton Shipyard through regular interactions with the shipyard trades and support organizations and applying technical rigor to develop engineered solutions which ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous completion of VIRGINIA construction activities. D460 Construction Support Engineering is also responsible for supporting submarine sea trials, major component evolutions, and all other submarine construction milestones. This posting is for an electrical construction test engineer that will provide first shift deckplate support. This requires an individual who is a self-starter that can work under minimal supervision. Daily interface with Operations and Ship's management is required. The Groton construction engineering team is a multi-disciplined team, comprised of electrical, mechanical, systems, and structural engineers which provides engineering and design support to the Groton shipyard. This department provides high quality and efficient engineering and design services to the shipyard customer in support of Virginia Class construction and deliveries. Engineers and designers work together in a fast-paced, time sensitive team environment, in collaboration with shipyard trades, with a primary focus on minimizing the disruption of shipyard schedules. Engineers provide technical support for manufacturing and testing of submarine fluids, mechanical, and electrical systems and components and structures. Duties include problem solving and troubleshooting, evaluation of construction and design errors, and preparation of written engineering dispositions. This position requires strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills. Engineers must work well with all levels of engineering, trades, trade management, and the Navy customer. Work in production areas and onboard active and new construction submarines is required. Qualifications Required:
