Job Summary

JoinSpectrum Brands(NYSE: SPB), amulti-billion dollar global Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)powerhouse with a portfolio of powerful, globally recognized brands. We are currently seeking an Aquaculture Supervisorto manage and maintain all ponds and the quarantine building while ensuring biosecurity. Maintain ponds at appropriate levels and quality for the purpose of growing healthy fish. Supervise and work alongside Aquaculture Technician(s).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

* Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment.
* Create and maintain a positive environment for all employees free of intimidation and harassment.
* Responsible for selection and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and disputes.
* Increase efficiency of fishponds, department and Technicians by suggesting changes in working conditions and use of equipment.
* Research appropriate treatment approaches suitable for different species of fish.
* Research alternative treatments when established procedures must be changed due to regulatory or other reasons.
* Establish or adjust work procedures to ensure hatchery schedules are met.
* Obtain and maintain relevant licenses and permits.
* Recommend measures to improve field methods, equipment performance, and quality of fish.
* Contribute to the accomplishment of Key Performance Indicators including safety, quality, production, cost and development.
* Evaluate schedules and establish work hour requirements to ensure completion of job assignments.
* Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and improve overall work environment.
* Effectively communicate with the Development and Commercialization Managers to ensure coordination of activities of each department.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Manage Quarantine building and follow Biosecurity procedures to ensure healthy fish are moving throughout the facility
* Work with Aquatic Veterinarian to medicate and vaccinate fish as is appropriate
* Assist in the planning, budgeting and management of capital improvement projects as needed.
* Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Fish Husbandry Duties
* Feed fish diets based on species and size. Evaluate fish behavior and report any inconsistencies. Plan how fish are distributed in ponds to ensure line purity is maintained.
* Evaluate ponds for oxygen and pH and ensure ponds are bio-secure. All lines and water lines should be evaluated regularly.
* Monitor fry ponds closely to evaluate growth.
* Harvest fish safely from ponds.
* Purchase feed and supplies within budget.
* Manage pond covering during winter season.

Field Maintenance and Improvements
* Work closely with the Facilities Manager to keep all field pond systems and structures maintained.
* Research opportunities to improve pond production efficiency and partner with the Facilities Manager to implement updates and improvements.
* Lead the installation and removal of all pond covers annually with the support of the Facilities personnel and Aquaculture Technicians.

Education and Experience Profile

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years fish husbandry experience required
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • High degree of discretion dealing with confidential and proprietary information
  • Must be able to work in extremely hot and humid conditions. Employee will be manually harvesting and washing ponds during all seasons and across all Central Florida weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Role not eligible for sponsorship

Required Skills

  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Work Environment

Must be able to work in extremely hot and humid conditions. Employee will be manually harvesting and washing ponds during all seasons and across all Central Florida weather conditions
