About the Job
Position Summary Serves as the primary authority and subject matter expert for the Graduate Assistant Health Benefit Plan (GAHP) including the Student Health Benefit Plan, International Student Programs, and Benefit Billing and Finance. This role requires expert knowledge of appointment calculations, job data interpretation, and benefit plan policies, along with strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills to resolve complex issues, develop program improvements, and collaborate effectively with enrollees, vendors, and internal partners. Overview of Responsibilities Office of Student Health Benefits Administration (35%)
- Independently administers, maintains, and updates all aspects of Graduate Assistance Health Plan (GAHP) to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with University goals.
- Provides expert guidance and consultation to staff, recognizing this role holds unique responsibility and depth of expertise for GAHP.
- Counsels, advises, investigates, and resolves complex benefit issues for students, parents, faculty, staff, and third parties related to GAHP and other Office of Student Health Benefits programs, including international student and scholar benefits, the Student Health Benefit Plan, Resident Fellow and Intern benefits, and AHC Long-Term Disability.
- Responds to inquiries via email, phone, and in person; issues may include eligibility changes, employment or enrollment status, coverage questions, and departmental coordination.
- Researches, prepares, and presents benefit appeals; serves in an advisory role during decision-making and communicates outcomes as appropriate.
- Identifies and recommends improvements to workflows, systems, communications, and benefit administration to enhance student service.
- Serves as the primary liaison with plan vendors to resolve enrollment, billing, and IT-related issues.
- Provides leadership, training, and oversight for student employees and new staff; oversee assigned projects.
Processing and Operations (35%)
- Designs, implements, and continuously improves GAHP-specific workflows to ensure operational continuity and accuracy.
- Oversees timely and accurate processing of enrollment, changes, waivers, and cancellations.
- Utilizes Boynton Health enrollment platforms (Point and Click, GE/IDX) and vendor systems to process updates and corrections in real time as needed.
Benefit Plan Coordination (20%)
- Conducts audits of enrollment, eligibility, and billing data for approximately 4,000 GAHP enrollees and other student plans, including verification of visa status and payment accuracy.
- Researches discrepancies, determines root causes, and develops resolutions in collaboration with colleagues or leadership.
- Communicates eligibility changes, corrections, terminations, and continuation-of-coverage notices to students and departments to ensure compliance with federal and University requirements.
- Utilizes PeopleSoft HR and Campus Solutions systems to determine eligibility and verify enrollment and premium assessments.
- Coordinates with Human Resources, Graduate Employment, International Student & Scholar Services, OneStop, and departmental HR staff to ensure policy compliance.
Outreach and Education (10%)
- Contributes to the development of benefit communications, including presentations, enrollment materials, emails, web content, and brochures.
- Represents the Office of Student Health Benefits at orientations and campus events; presents benefit information to domestic, international, graduate, and professional students and families.
- Collaborates with plan vendors and University partners across campuses to communicate procedures, policy changes, and resolve emerging issues.
- Participates on internal and external committees in an advisory capacity as appropriate.
- Performs other duties consistent with the job classification and position description.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS with at least two (2) years of benefits administration experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six (6) years.
- Office and administrative experience in a health care setting.
- Knowledge of University business procedures, student insurance policies and procedures, and Boynton's accounts receivable billing procedures.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with audiences at all levels of an organization.
- Proficient with computer systems, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google products.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the clinical team; Builds and nurtures collaborative relationships.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including working objectively with individuals whose lived experiences, identities, attitudes, and behaviors may differ from their own.

- Ability to work independently in ambiguous and complex situations with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, and work prioritization skill
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Healthcare software applications (i.e. EHR)
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
Pay and Benefits
