What You Will Do:

As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will lead the daily operations of geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratories, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and technical excellence in every workflow. You will champion the adoption of advanced testing technologies, uphold rigorous quality standards, and guide a skilled team to deliver highvalue results for internal and external clients. In this role, you will serve as a technical consultant, manage laboratory accreditation programs, and safeguard the facility's safety and compliance. Your work will directly support project success, client satisfaction, and continuous improvement across laboratory functions.



  • Daily Laboratory Operations & Staff Leadership: Oversee daytoday lab activities, supervise personnel (including Team Leads), manage workload distribution, and ensure timely, highquality testing output.
  • Quality Management & Accreditation Compliance: Maintain and strengthen AASHTO R18 QMS practices, oversee calibration programs, support accreditation audits, and ensure full compliance with ASTM and AASHTO testing standards.
  • Technology, Equipment, & Process Optimization: Implement advanced testing technologies and automated data acquisition systems, ensure proper maintenance of lab equipment, and refine testing procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Client Support, Consultation & Service Marketing: Promote laboratory services to clients and project managers, provide expert technical guidance, and build strong relationships that support ongoing and future business.
  • Safety, Reporting & Facility Oversight: Maintain a safe lab environment by ensuring adherence to fire/life safety, egress, and electrical standards; assist with the timely completion of accident and injury reports; and support capital planning and equipment purchasing.

Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or other closely related technical field, a plus
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years combined experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing and a supervisory, management, or leadership role
  • Key Competencies:


    • Proficient with computer technology and mechanical testing equipment




Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:



  • Working in the office most of the time, but might be requested to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking on a concrete/tile floor and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of field/laboratory samples and equipment
  • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
