Overview

Microsoft's Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the hardware infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! We are looking for a Senior Sourcing Engineer, Spares and Warranty to join out team!

CSCP's vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud and AI capabilities at scale. Our mission is to deliver the world's computer with an industry-leading supply chain. The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is supported by more than 300 datacenters around the world that enable services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries.

Within CSCP, the Spares Supply Chain organization is reinventing and transforming the cloud service parts supply chain. Our goal is to ensure the right spare parts are in the right place at the right time to support global capacity requirements and make sure our customers have the cloud capacity they need when they need it.

Responsibilities

I.Supplier relationship management

  • Lead contractandtermsnegotiationswith suppliers, ensuring alignment with Microsoft's cross-functional requirements and businessobjectives.

  • Establish strong relationships with Storage suppliers(e.g.SSD, DRAM); servingas the senior escalation point for supplier leadership, ensuringtimelyresolution of critical issues to support business growth and operational excellence

  • Managecomponentpricing, lead time, and multi-source allocation across suppliers to drive spares supply chain optimization and resiliency

  • Align suppliers on SLAs, KPIs, and OLAs, and conduct regular MBR/QBR sessions to drive performance improvement

  • Define RFQ / RFP activities andconduct negotiations with suppliers

II.Cost optimization

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for NPI,EOL, and multi-source initiatives to ensure cost advantage and continuity of supply.

  • Managestorage commodity warranty term and RMAperformancefor Microsoft data centers, support requiredquality remediationwithengineering and quality teams

  • Identifyand drivecost reduction opportunities with sourcing tools (e.g.Cost modeling)

  • Demonstrate agility to resolve ad-hoc issues such as cost, tariffs, import / export compliance, and inventory consumption.

III.Process improvement

  • Define strategy and sourcing approach to support spareparts/ RMA needs for racks at data centers

  • Implement process optimization initiativesto enhance sourcing workflows anddecision-making.



Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience.
  • Other Requirements:
    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
    * Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Cloud or High-tech supply chain
  • Demonstrated ability to approach challenges with thoughtful analysis and sound judgment
  • Adaptable and effective in dynamic, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
  • Excellent influencing skills with ability to build relationships across multiple layers in the organization
  • Deep analytical capabilities and ability to synthesize data to influence leadership decision making
  • Good understanding of DRAM, SSD, HDD technologies, including product roadmap and transitions
  • Expertise with various business tools (e.g. word, excel, PBI, power point).

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
