The Plant Electrical Maintenance Supervisor plans, directs and evaluates shop and field activities of electrical maintenance personnel at a large regional wastewater treatment plant and satellite facilities. The activities include maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and electronic equipment.
Responsibilities include:
*Planning, directing, training, and evaluating the work of a staff of seven electricians.
*Evaluating and administering contract work.
*Coordinating a wide variety of electrical maintenance activities.
*Developing and implementing preventive maintenance and safety programs.
Competitive candidates will clearly demonstrate:
*Effective supervisory and personnel management skills, including training, leadership, performance evaluation, job planning and crew scheduling.
*Practical experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of modern industrial switching, high voltage distribution systems (12,000 volts) and controls.
*Knowledge of relevant safety practices and regulations.
*Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
*Ability to function effectively as a member of the maintenance supervisory team.
*Coordination of work with other disciplines and trades.
*Working knowledge of the National Electric Code.
*Skill in coordinating diverse electrical maintenance activities and determining priorities.
*Willingness and ability to respond to emergency situations where regulatory compliance, public health considerations and minimizing downtime are major concerns.
*Ability to provide administrative support in budget preparation and administration, contract administration, inventory control and related areas.
*Ability to develop and implement performance standards.
*Skill in planning and evaluating a productive and effective electrical maintenance program.
*Ability to develop positive and effective working relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, senior management, engineers, contractors, and customers.
The salary range is $12,832 per month increasing to $13,474, $14,148, and $14,855 after 6, 18, and 30 months, respectively.

1.A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and
2.Attainment of journey level status in electrical work, instrument repair, or a related electromechanical craft, and either:
2a. Three years of experience in work of this nature, which has included as a major function the installation, maintenance or repair of industrial electrical equipment; or,
2b.Three years of experience in work comparable to or higher than EBMUD's Electrician or Instrument Technician classifications.
3. Possession of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Must possess the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job; must be clean shaven on demand as required to wear respiratory protection equipment.
