Your Job

At Pine Bend Refinery, the Emergency Response Leader is essential to protecting life, property, and the environment. This role leads and coordinates emergency response efforts for incidents such as fires, leaks, medical emergencies, and unplanned releases. You will ensure the refinery's safety and minimize offsite impacts by driving a culture of readiness, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Our Team

You will be part of the Environmental Health & Safety department, working closely with the refinery's Fire Department, safety teams, and external emergency services. Our team is committed to maintaining a high standard of safety and operational excellence through collaboration, training, and innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coordinate emergency response activities at Pine Bend Refinery, including fire, leak, medical emergencies, and other incidents.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness through regular training sessions and drills for response teams and refinery personnel.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external emergency responders to ensure effective and timely emergency interventions.
  • Develop, review, and update emergency response plans, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during emergency situations, providing clear communication and decisive leadership.
  • Build and sustain systems that continuously improve emergency response capabilities.
  • Analyze incident reports and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Act as the business owner of Emergency Response capability, including overseeing supervisor responsibilities related to the function.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, leadership, and external responders to coordinate emergency response activities and routine safety operations.
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture by participating in continuous improvement initiatives, safety audits, and compliance activities.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Demonstrated experience leading and training emergency response teams in high-pressure or time-critical environments within an industrial, manufacturing, or refinery setting.
  • Knowledge of fire safety, hazardous material handling, and emergency medical response.
  • Experience leading or participating in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Prior experience within refining or petrochemical emergency response.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), OSHA Specialist credentials, or equivalent.
  • Relevant certifications or formal training in emergency management, firefighting, or safety disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative training programs and emergency response systems.

For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000 - 150,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
