The PM&R Department serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.3 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located within
ECU Health Rehabilitation Center at
ECU Health Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Brain Injury, General Rehab, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Units.
The Center's 57-bed inpatient unit is one of few rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (
CARF) in eleven or more specialty areas. The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at
ECU Health.
ECU Health Medical Center is a
JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center.
The
ECU Brody School of Medicine is partnered with
ECU Health Medical Center (formerly Vidant Medical Center).
ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for
ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. |
| Job Duties |
The purpose of the Clerkship Coordinator (University Program Associate) is to facilitate the instruction of medical students by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) faculty. The Clerkship Coordinator, in collaboration with the Clerkship Director, has complete responsibility for directing all levels of student programs in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
The selected candidate will support efficient preparation and delivery of final grades for the PM&R / Neuro clerkship by maintaining the Master Excel spreadsheet for student grades in a secure location. The Clerkship Coordinator will import each component of the grade into the spreadsheet as it becomes available and work closely with the Clerkship Director to develop these components in a timely fashion. The Clerkship Coordinator will work to ensure that sufficient clinical evaluations are completed on each student by emailing faculty and residents periodically, as necessary, and assist with the comments for the final grade letter and work with the Clerkship Director to have these comments imported with the final grade letter.
The selected candidate will utilize Vidanovavle to make schedules, create course events and Webex meetings, and list and keep the two components of the clerkship (Virtual and Clinical) updated. The Coordinator will work closely with Student Affairs in regard to student schedules, student drop/adds, absences, policies and procedures. The Coordinator will continue to take part in training sessions and continue to expand their knowledge and understanding of the system.
The selected candidate will support visiting medical students with onboarding and continued contact while on site. The Clerkship Coordinator is usually the first person that a visiting student meets, and it is important to make their visit welcoming. The Coordinator is responsible for filling out the many forms that have to be completed prior to and during their visit. |
