In this role you will evaluate financial situations in accordance with regulatory compliance and maintain patient confidentiality and dignity. You will be able to apply your strong communications skills in this position.
Responsibilities
- You will explain topics of insurance coverage, treatment costs, and financial assistance opportunities to the patient, relative, or patient's representative
- You will provide expertise and education in the areas of Medicaid eligibility, Social Security Disability and any available government programs
- You will perform complete and accurate Patient registrations according to the organization's policy and procedures and federal/state regulatory requirements, acting as an ambassador to ensure a patient-friendly experience
- You will complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with the patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic information, insurance data and/or third-party liability information
- You will complete regulatory or policy required forms, including payor requirements such as Medicare, L & I requirements and some commercial payors, and obtains all necessary signatures via mail or upon registration
- You will provide patient liability information to and collects the point of service cash from patients based on guidelines and/or systems provided by the department, including but not limited to: co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, deposits, outstanding balances
Requirements
- Completion of a medical terminology course or proficiency preferred
- Certified as an Application Counselor (CAC) within 90-days of employment
- Minimum three (3) years healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payor, Medicaid case work or billing experience required

Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $20.07 - $28.87 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
