Switchboard Operator - Hospital Call Center *Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid / Remote After Training)*
*Contract Opportunity | Multiple Openings* *Pay: $16.00/hour* About the Role Are you calm under pressure, customerfocused, and great on the phone? We're hiring *Switchboard Operators* to serve as the *first point of contact* for a large hospital system's main 800-number. In this fastpaced role, you'll act as the "human Google," helping patients, families, and internal staff quickly connect with the right departments, providers, or services. This is a *highvisibility position* where professionalism, efficiency, and empathy directly impact the patient experience. What You'll Do * Answer and route *250+ inbound calls per day* with speed and accuracy * Serve callers from both inside and outside the health system * Route calls for *14 hospital facilities* * Page physicians on behalf of patients and staff * Answer general questions about hours, services, locations, and departments * Transfer emergency calls to the Emergency Department immediately * Represent the hospital brand with exceptional customer service on every call * Keep calls efficient (typically *30-45 seconds*) while remaining courteous and helpful Work Environment * Highvolume *24/7 hospital call center* * Team of ~40 operators across three shifts * Open *364 days per year* (rotating schedules required) * Training is *onsite, daytime hours* before remote work eligibility * After training, role follows a *workfromhome model*, per telework policy *All equipment provided*, including: * Computer * Dual monitors * Headset, keyboard, and mouse Available Shifts (5 Openings) * *9:00 PM - 4:00 AM (Rotating | Temporary/FMLA coverage)* * *2:30 PM - 11:00 PM (Rotating)* * *4:00 PM - 12:30 AM (Rotating)* * *1:00 PM - 10:30 PM (Rotating)* * *5:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Rotating)* *Schedule while on contract:* Monday-Friday What We're Looking For Required: * *1+ year of recent, steady call center experience* * Must have taken *50+ calls per day* * Strong customer service skills (professional, polite, and composed) * Experience working in a *fastpaced environment* * Reliable job history Preferred: * Hospital, healthcare, or medical office experience * Familiarity with inbound call routing or switchboard environments Why This Opportunity Stands Out * Be part of a healthcare organization that directly impacts patient lives * Opportunity to work with one of the largest and most respected health systems in the region * *Paid training* and potential for longterm career growth * Exposure to multiple departments and pathways for internal mobility * Stable schedule, consistent call volume, and strong team support If you're dependable, customerdriven, and looking for a foot in the door with a respected healthcare organization, this is a *great opportunity to grow your career* while making a meaningful difference every day. *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
