Responsibilities

The Quality and EHS Manager serves in a leadership role in the implementation, support, and oversight of DAC EHS, Quality, Sustainability and ISO policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices at our facilities. This experienced leader will develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures to ensure that:

  • All products meet established quality standards and customer expectations.
  • EHS programs and procedures are compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Meaningful and realistic safety targets are achieved with continuous improvement.
  • Quality and EHS management systems meet ISO requirements and certifications are maintained.
  • Sustainability action plans are created and executed in alignment with corporate goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include facilitating EHS and Quality Excellence programs, managing, and coordinating training programs for employees, and coordinating with corporate programs and initiatives.

The Quality and EHS Manager provides guidance and facilitates a collaborative approach to site management on implementation of EHS, Quality, Sustainability, and ISO programs to reduce risk and incidents of accidents, injuries, and environmental releases. This individual stays current on relevant Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality and ISO regulations and compliance with applicable regulations. The Quality and EHS Manager is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the performance of EHS, Quality, Sustainability and ISO KPIs and personnel to ensure performance meets or exceeds DAC expectations. This includes, but is not limited to providing required training, permitting, maintain certifications, reporting, auditing, and recordkeeping. This individual builds and maintains employee support for the DAC EHS culture, with an emphasis on continual improvement. As DAC continues to grow, the Quality and EHS Manager

may be responsible for administrative and supervisory leadership of a team. The Quality and EHS Manager performs other tasks as assigned.

Other responsibilities

  • Analyze accident/incident trends and develop/implement recommendations to improve safety behaviors and plant safety record. Use Structured Problem-Solving tools (e.g. 8D or A3) where appropriate.
  • Initiate regular meetings with the Plant Managers to set personal Quality/EHS goals and measure performance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Understand what the facility needs to accomplish, determine where to focus efforts, and develop tactical plans for delivering on identified goals.
  • Carry out the plans, both directly and indirectly by engaging and guiding other key players at the site.
  • Seek out and advocate for the resources required to implement the facility's EMS, build EMS-related capability within the site through tools and training, and communicate the facility's environmental progress and impact to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and measure the facility's environmental KPIs to ensure plans are delivering the desired results and to cultivate insights into opportunities for improvement.
  • Advocate and facilitate action for continual environmental performance improvement.
  • Understand what the facility needs to accomplish, determine where to focus efforts and develop tactical plans for delivering on identified goals.
  • Interfaces with site personnel to identify hazards, and to develop and implement corrective/improvement measures. This could include the review and approval of specific work permits, as well as participation in incident investigation teams, safety audits, design reviews, process safety reviews, project review teams, and/or job task analysis.
  • Coordinate and manage the implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, Sustainability and ISO policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and practices at our facilities in their assigned location(s). This includes, but is not limited to, maintain site management systems, Incident Management Database, Action Item Database and EHS Compliance Calendar including routine reporting, audits, and permit renewals/certifications.
  • Promotes proactive safety participation by all employees and ensuring injuries, illnesses, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions are reported and investigated.
  • Provide leadership to develop, implement and maintain environmental, health, safety, quality, sustainability and ISO programs and policies to meet or exceed compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Supports the industrial hygiene program through air and noise monitoring and exposure assessments and prepares reports.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and supporting continual improvement under the ISO 9000 and RC14001 process and Safety and Health 45001.
  • Provide technical support, guidance and maintain all documentation essential to efficient operations of the EHS program. Monitors interactions with regulatory authorities, insurance carriers or EHS consultants on issues impacting manufacturing operations. Ensures environmental permits and reporting are up to date. Ensures permit requirements are adhered to.
  • Provide coaching, employee development, performance management, and training of assigned EHS department staff. Provide appropriate level of direction and conduct performance reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned to support EHS department goals and objectives.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Experience in training and taking a proactive approach with regard to recordable incidents and meeting goals of the company.
  • Experience in assuring compliance with all OSHA regulations at various sites.
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting on job sites to inspect for safety.
  • Good decision-making skills and ability to perform in stressful situations.
  • Must have a background in Quality or Safety.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of OSHA Rules and Regulations.
  • Must be experienced in automotive and material handling systems.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and July 4th.
  • Must be able to travel an average of 25-30% of the time.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under tight deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written to the company executives and business partners.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with the peers, management & leaders of the business area.
  • Assume accountability and take ownership for ALL projects that you are responsible and involved in.

Education and Experience

  • A. or B.S. in Organizational Development or Management, related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Six Sigma helpful
  • OSHA 500, 501n 510 or 511 preferred (or combination thereof)
  • OSHA 30 Hour in General or Construction Industry
  • Professional and/or industry certifications in environmental, safety, or industrial hygiene Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, etc.
  • Training or knowledge of Hazardous material response (40 hr. Haz-Mat Technician level) and confined space rescue.
  • Experience with implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs. Ability to conduct Process Hazard Analysis using HAZOP or equivalent method.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, API, NFPA and other recognized industry standards.
  • Knowledge of databases and ability to use databases for trending.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation requirements.
  • First Aid / CPR Certification
  • Ability to adapt to changing list of priorities based on needs of the company, regulatory compliance, and management of risk.
  • Must possess knowledge of machine operator equipment such as is used by Welders, Crane Operators and Field Service Engineers
  • Experience in the Manufacturing Industry is preferred
  • SAP FI certification is a plus
  • Passport a plus
