Senior Systems Engineer

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the EPASS contract. This position is located in Kettering, OH.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Identify, describe, and apply emerging IT acquisition strategies, best practices, IT-related performance measures, and quality management in support of acquisition planning, information assurance/cybersecurity, test and evaluation processes, verification and validation processes, and/or fielding and sustaining of lT/software systems.

  • Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications.

  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications.

  • Prepare technical documentation that defines, specifies, and recommends system/subsystem characteristics.

  • Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action using the application of engineering principles.

  • Perform validation of software systems, including development of analyses/evaluation criteria and procedures, analyses/evaluation of results, and related recommendations.

  • Provide Agile and Digital system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including, but not limited to, acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.

  • Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes.

  • Perform all (system) engineering according to applicable DOD, AF, AFMC directives, instructions, and manuals, to include, but not be limited to, AFI 63-101, AFMAN 63-144, AFMCI 63-1202, AFMAN 63-128, AF/ 99-103, and their updates, successors (as happens over time).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Advanced Degree (MA/MS) or Doctorate from an ABET-accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other Engineering Discipline, and 10 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD, or

  • BA/BS Degree from an ABET-accredited program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other Engineering Discipline, and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD, or

  • 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, 8 of which must be in the DoD.

  • CompTIA Security+ CE.

  • Certifications Requirements (Possesses any or all of the following certifications).

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or associate)

    • AWS Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Axure equivalent

    • Current certification in Oracle/OCI products and/or databases

    • Agile/Scrum Certifications - desired

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Must possess and maintain a Tier 1/NACI clearance.

  • Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.
