JOB OVERVIEW:

The Finance "Co-Pilot" serves as a strategic thought partner to business leaders, translating financial data into actionable insights that drive performance, accountability, and decision-making. This role partners closely with functional leaders to support planning, forecasting, investment decisions, finance acumen and operational execution while ensuring financial rigor and alignment with enterprise strategy and governance standards.

As a proactive advisor, the Finance Co-Pilot moves beyond reporting to influence outcomes -challenging assumptions, identifying risks and opportunities, and helping leaders understand the financial impact of their decisions in real time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Partnership & Decision Support

  • Act as a trusted finance partner to assigned business functions, providing financial guidance to support strategic, operational, and investment decisions.
  • Serve as a "co-pilot" to leaders by proactively identifying financial risks, opportunities, and trade-offs tied to business initiatives.
  • Support business cases, ROI analyses, and scenario modeling for new initiatives, capital investments, and process changes.
  • Promote governance and control standards in alignment with BDG policies.
  • Act as a coach building finance acumen in the function they co-pilot.

Financial Planning & Performance Management

  • Lead or support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning activities in partnership with functional leaders.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders leveraging the COE and FP&A data & insights manager
  • Monitor financial performance against plans, identify drivers of variance, and recommend corrective actions.

Analytics, Insights & Storytelling

  • Leverage dashboards, KPIs, and financial models that provide timely visibility into performance as delivered by the COE
  • Be a Champion of automation collaborating with the Data & Insights Manager to develop standard analysis for the business.
  • Be a champion of collaboration with your co-pilot peers to connect the dots beyond the function co-piloted and help the business view the holistic impact of decision making.
  • Connect operational metrics to financial outcomes to help leaders understand cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Deliver clear, concise financial narratives that enable informed decision-making at all levels of the organization.

Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, IT, HR) to align financial objectives with execution.
  • Engage with the COE, partner with your peers' co-pilots and the Data & Inisghts Finance Manager to build a continuous improvement model of the financial decision support enhancing automation and DIY models where it makes sense, reducing ad-hoc analysis to specific strategic needs with high ROI for BDG
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by quantifying benefits, tracking savings, and validating results engaging with the COE
  • Ensure financial considerations are embedded early in business discussions, not just after decisions are made.

Governance & Financial Discipline

  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, controls, and governance standards while enabling business agility.
  • Balance financial rigor with practicality, helping leaders navigate constraints without slowing progress.
  • Support audit readiness and data integrity as needed.

Leadership & Capability Building

  • Coach business leaders on financial acumen, helping elevate financial understanding across the organization.
  • Mentor junior finance team members or analysts as applicable, in particular in collaboration with the COE team
  • Contribute to the evolution of finance tools, processes, and ways of working.

Specifics to the function co-piloted

  • Partner with Supply Chain Leadership to understand key decision criteria and support optimum solutions including
    • Modelling continuous network optimization
    • Innovation network needs
    • Transportation analysis
    • 3rd party provider liaison and analysis
  • Transportation & Warehousing Financial Performance Management incorporating
    • Variance root cause analysis with recommendations of corrective actions where necessary
    • Identification of cost saving opportunities
    • Drive opportunities for performance improvements through linking non-financial KPis to financial returns
  • Lead T&W Performance Forecasting incorporating
    • Rates - risks & opportunities
    • Fixed warehousing utilization
  • Drive business needs driven T&W AOP providing appropriate influence and challenge
  • Monitor trade deduction performance identifying root causes and opportunities for corrective action.
  • Partner Procurement team incorporating
    • Variance analysis
    • Identifying opportunities for cost savings
    • Efficient decision support
  • Drive AOP standards for raw materials and packaging
  • Inventory Risk Management including identification of risks and mitigating action.

Desired Qualifications

  • 6-10+ years of progressive finance experience, including business partnering, FP&A, or operational finance.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build trusted partnerships with senior leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to translate financial concepts for non-finance audiences.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, or complex operational environment preferred.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Combination of education, certifications, and commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
