Summary

Corporate Communications Lead

The Corporate Communications Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the company's brand, reputation, and stakeholder relationships. This individual is responsible for both internal and key external communications, including developing short-term and long-term communications strategies that support the company to achieve its strategic business objectives, advance the company's priorities, enhance the company's reputation, and build corporate culture.

Responsibilities

The Company is one of North America's leading sales and marketing agencies specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing services to manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.

Responsibilities

    Develop and implement integrated communication plans that support business objectives and promote the company's vision, mission, and values; advise executive leadership on communication strategies, messaging, and media opportunities
  • Ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice across all communication channels, including social media, company website, blog and intranet; oversee the development and execution of the company's social media and blog strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and brand standards; monitor public perception and recommend strategies to strengthen the company's image
  • Serve as the primary company spokesperson and manage media inquiries, interviews, and press releases; build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, industry influencers, and key external partners; monitor media coverage and proactively address reputation risks or opportunities
  • Develop, implement, and evolve internal communications strategies, key messages, tactics, metrics, and resource management strategies that enhance engagement, increase profile and visibility, and support business priorities and strategic objectives; develop, lead, manage, and create internal communications for major company announcements, initiatives, and confidential change management as needed
  • Develop and execute crisis communication plans to protect and defend the company's reputation during critical incidents; coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and consistent messaging
  • Lead and mentor the multimedia content specialist to produce engaging digital content that enhances audience engagement and strengthens the company's online presence
  • Prepare speeches, presentations, and talking points for senior leaders; coach executives for media interviews, presentations, and public appearances
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • Experience Requirements: 10-12 years experience in relevant field (Strategic Communications experience preferred)
  • Travel requirement: Some travel expected

Supervisor Responsibility

  • Direct Reports: Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources
  • Indirect Reports: May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic communication plans and content showcasing exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong media relations and crisis management experience required; experience with digital communications, social media, content marketing, and SEO is a plus
  • Ability to influence and build consensus among executive leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience managing communications in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically, requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may require the ability to lift up to 10lbs.
