McAdams is a full-service land planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, transportation, and geomatics firm located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Florida. We seek to partner with our clients to create meaningful experiences through inspired design. Our employees are what make McAdams different. We bring experiences to the forefront of everything we do, and to do that takes special people.

Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Healthcare & Institutional Lead to spearhead the planning, design, permitting, and delivery of complex site/civil projects across the Charlotte region and greater Carolina's market. This senior civil engineering leadership role blends technical expertise, strategic vision, and client engagement to expand our presence in healthcare and other institutional sectors, while ensuring consistent excellence in project execution. The Healthcare & Institutional Lead will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, a mentor to staff, and a visible representative of the firm within the Charlotte healthcare and institutional development community.

In this role, you will lead projects including medical office buildings, patient care facilities, hospital campus expansions, central energy plants, and supporting utility and civil infrastructure. In addition, you will guide site/civil delivery for university campus development, K-12 facilities, public-sector institutions, and other mission-driven environments where reliability, resiliency, and stakeholder coordination are critical. Success requires strong command of technical design and regulatory processes, paired with the ability to anticipate client needs, manage complex project teams, and deliver predictable outcomes.

A critical component of this role is the ability to partner seamlessly with architects and multidisciplinary design teams. The ideal candidate brings an established track record of collaborating with architectural firms from concept planning through construction, understanding how site and civil decisions influence building design, cost, schedule, and approval pathways. Strong relationships with architects-and the ability to build new ones-will be essential for driving pursuits, expanding opportunities, and delivering high-quality, integrated solutions. This leader will be skilled at aligning owners, architects, and engineering teams around shared goals, ensuring projects move efficiently through permitting and execution while maintaining exceptional client service.

At McAdams, we invest in growth-minded leaders who are eager to build, innovate, and elevate those around them. You will have the autonomy to shape strategy, influence market direction, and expand capabilities-supported by a collaborative leadership team, robust internal resources, and a strong platform for long-term career development. This is an opportunity for a leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, values continuous improvement, and is motivated by creating lasting impact in the communities we serve.
