AMES - Mail/Supply Specialist
Ensuring proper receiving, inspection, sorting, and distribution of all inbound mail, parcels, equipment, and freight throughout NASA Ames Research Center. Preparing, handling, processing, and coordinating all packages/shipments through the Transportation Office for inspection and final review prior to departure. Packing, marking, labeling, storing, inventorying, and cleaning up Hazardous Material (HM) following regulations and procedures. Providing receiving and unloading of all mail, supplies, equipment, and materials coming into the Ames Research Center Mail Room Facility. Performing x-ray and visual inspection of all inbound supplies, mail, equipment, and materials, following proper procedures for suspicious items. Executing Mail route delivery for all inbound mail, supplies, equipment, and materials, including Overnight priority parcels coming into the Ames Research Center. Verifying quantities and descriptions of supplies received with associated documentation and reporting discrepancies to the supervisor. Designing and constructing suitable boxes and crates and providing cushioning materials for shipment of various items. Preparing, packaging, and processing outbound shipments using USPS postal metering machine, UPS, FedEx, and other software systems. Moving equipment and supplies to designated staging areas for timely distribution and to designated Custodial Storage areas. Conducting daily and weekly vehicle inspections for Mail delivery vehicles, forklifts, material moving equipment, and other Government and company-owned vehicles. Supporting the company and NASA's established goals and objectives, emphasizing workplace safety policies and guidelines.
Basic Qualifications:
Obtain a clean DMV record and practice safe driving Ability to be certified with secret clearance Ability to lift materials continuously. Experience in Mail Room, Shipping/Receiving Hazmat services, and general warehouse operations.
