As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government location, you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to security-related concerns with clear communication and customer-focused service. This post requires an armed guard card or license. Why Join Us: What You'll Do: - Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Perform armed patrol duties in accordance with post orders, licensing requirements, and Allied Universal policies.
- Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout buildings, parking areas, and perimeter zones; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
- Monitor access points and verify identification, credentials, and/or authorization for entry to government facilities and restricted areas.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including dispatching appropriate resources and coordinating with site contacts.
- Observe and report suspicious activity, potential hazards, and policy violations; take appropriate action to help to deter unauthorized activity.
- Operate and monitor security-related systems such as CCTV, intrusion alarms, radios, and access control systems as assigned.
- Complete timely written reports, incident documentation, and shift logs with accurate details and chain-of-command notifications.
- Provide traffic control and pedestrian guidance during peak times, special events, or building operations as assigned.
- Assist with emergency procedures such as evacuations, shelter-in-place actions, and/or medical response within the scope of training and post orders.
- Maintain a professional presence, follow use-of-force guidelines, and handle confrontations using de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
- Support law enforcement and/or government officials during investigations, emergencies, and/or security-related incidents as directed by post orders.
Minimum Requirements: - Possess an Armed Guard Card and/or License.
- Be comfortable using a computer and/or tablet, preferred.
- Pepper spray certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
- Handcuffing certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
