GENERAL STATEMENT: The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church, and the ultimate goal of all programs is spiritual regeneration of all people. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer. SCOPE OF POSITION: Provide support to the department to help ensure that the needs of the Center clients are served. The Salvation Army Center of Hope program provides 24/7 enhanced shelter and related services for adults experiencing homelessness. Participants are typically people who have been identified as high needs adults who are eligible for supportive permanent housing through outside agencies. Many clients have chronic and acute mental illness, active addiction issues, and/or trauma. This is a low-barrier, harm reduction program. Advocates are responsible for providing direct service to their participants, assisting with the goal of moving their participants quickly into permanent housing and fostering a team environment among center staff. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. Working Conditions: The position may also involve exposure to vibration or oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. Proper Training protocols and Personal Protective Equipment is provided to all staff but there may be potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, other potentially infectious materials, cleaning supplies, pest control chemicals, paint, and materials used in building maintenance.
