SUMMARY:
The Anesthesiology Department at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown Medical School seeks a full-time clinical research assistant to assist in acquisition and analysis of patient information for multiple clinical research projects. The research assistant may be responsible for the following activities: recruitment and screening of study participants, obtaining participant consent, tracking participants through multiple stages of a trial; collecting, organizing, and managing patient data; initiating and maintaining IRB protocols; and assisting with other research-related tasks. Opportunities also will be available, as desired, for mentorship in research design and preparation of poster presentations. This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 06/30/2025 which may be extended based upon available funding. Start date is February 1, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols. * Recruitment for research studies and clinical trials; assists research physician in identification and follow up of patients meeting criteria for inclusion in clinical research studies; ensures protocol eligibility requirements are met. * Interact with patients/subjects with regard to study, including facilitating in obtaining informed consent, patient education, procedural instruction, follow-up. * Responsible for collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study. May be required to input data, do minimum analysis, and run various reports. Maintains patients records as part of record keeping function. May review medical records to abstract information necessary to complete forms. * Monitors and sets up any needed equipment in an operating room setting. * Performs literature searches and may present data at study meetings. * All other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or relevant field Prior research experience, familiarity with data management software (e.g., Excel, RedCap) Organizational skills to organize and prioritize own efforts on multiple projects and to gather research information, format appropriately for computer data entry, prepare and maintain records and reports, etc. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and Hospital professional to gather and exchange information. Technical ability to operate and maintain computer system. EXPERIENCE: Prior research experience, familiarity with data management software (e.g., Excel, RedCap) Experience or desire to work with technology in an operating room setting is preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Often works within a specific department to identify, enroll and follow up on research patients. May spend much of the time standing and walking between departments, offices, operating rooms, etc. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some early evenings. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Perform independently within the departments policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: h2None./h2

Pay Range:

$41,537.60-$68,556.80
