This position is with Helena Industries (HI). HI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC and provides production and distribution solutions to customers across a wide variety of industries. HI is one of the largest chemical toll manufacturers in the U.S. and our clients include many household name brands and large retailers.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Maintenance Supervisor plans and coordinates the schedules for preventative maintenance and maintenance of all plant equipment including overseeing the purchasing of parts and supplies. This position is also responsible for working with all plant team members to ensure that maintenance and installations are done safely and do not interrupt normal plant operations. This position is also responsible for the upkeep of the facilities and grounds.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE




  • Plans short-term and long-term assignments for the Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Technicians by reviewing newly issued work orders.
  • Studies production and operation schedules and confers with other team members to determine when planned/repair maintenance will least interfere with operations to maintain an effective preventative maintenance program.
  • Repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all equipment in the plant and associated buildings including electrical installations.
  • Evaluates problematic systems, facilities and equipment to determine what repair or replacement services are needed.
  • Determines material, equipment and supplies to be used.
  • Transfers equipment and team members from one project to another as necessary.
  • Provides technical support to the production departments personally or through other employees.
  • Coordinates, inspects, operates and maintains the heating, cooling and ventilation systems (including boiler system) at plant facilities.
  • Determines what parts and supplies need to be purchased at most effective cost.
  • Solicits quotes on equipment, parts and supplies from vendors.
  • Provides direction, oversees and reviews the Mechanics and Technician's work including work and vacation scheduling and performance feedback.
  • Provides training to team members in the plant as needed.
  • Provides needed training to maintenance technicians and mechanics to close skill gaps.
  • Trains plant team members on the operation of new equipment.
  • Assists or prepares maintenance budget and monitors expenses.
  • Codes vendor invoices to appropriate cost center and forwards for processing.
  • Maintains plant records on new installations and improvements to plant equipment.
  • Ensures tools are costcontrolled, available when needed, and properly tracked.
  • Performs work in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
  • Maintains a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility by using good housekeeping habits and 5S best practices.
  • Work with continuous improvement and engineering teams to improve maintenance efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Responds appropriately to off-shift and off-day problems and maintenance shift problems.
  • Checks up on completed work for staff and contractors to ensure satisfaction.
  • Utilizes CMMS system to plan, communicate, and document work orders for breakdowns and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensures departments compliance with ISO standards.
  • Tracks and records maintenance KPI's.


  • May be required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Manages other team members.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Leadership experience is required
  • Five years in plant maintenance with broad experience in mechanical or electrical problem solving is required.
  • Deep knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and interpreting technical drawings is required.
  • Experience with different types of pumps centrifugal, AODD, gear lobe, sliding vane, etc. is preferred.
  • Boiler maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting packaging equipment, including fillers, cappers, conveyors, case erectors, and stretchwrap machines is preferred.
  • Experience in welding various types of metals is preferred.



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS




  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong vendor communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends.
  • May be required to pass OSHA respirator physical.
  • May be required to inspect elevated equipment up to 100 feet high.


  • Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle. Must be able to meet all company requirements to drive a Helena vehicle.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
  • Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.
  • Applicants for positions requiring operation of a moving vehicle or interaction with heavy equipment must meet the legal age requirement.



Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB

The work environment for this position will be in an office setting and in a typical plant/warehouse environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.

This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, (8 hours a day or more), lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more), reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs), climbing, gripping, grasping and twisting using hands and wrists, bending and stooping for long periods of time, working below knee levels for short periods of time and working above shoulder level for short periods.
